Lecture: "Effective teaching of programming in Java"

The Education Department of the Croatian Section IEEE invites you to Lecture
Effective teaching of programming in Java
which will sustain Marko Čupić, PhD,
from the Department of Electronics, Microelectronics, Computer and Intelligent Systems of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing University of Zagreb
in Monday, March 16, 2015 at 6 pm in the Grey Hall
Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing University of Zagreb.
The lecture will also be available online at the address mms://mediaserver.lss.hr/IEEE-E25
Java programming language today is one of the most accurate object-oriented languages that supports true višeplatformness and built-in višedretivity, which along with standard OOP programmers offers aspects of functional paradigm and which today has a significant application both on desktop computers, as well as on servers, mobile devices and built-in devices.
As part of this lecture, we will look back at the short history of the Java course: when it started, how did it start and foršit started. ŠThis is what students say about veštini? ŠWe did everything from 2003 to 2014 and how did it help FER?
The lecture and discussion after it will seek answers to the questions of the application of ICT in the education of engineers. Some of the questions to be asked are:
- Do I teach Java to students?
- Is it a better compulsory subject, elective or veština?
- What problems do students have in overcoming Java?
- What problems does the teacher have?
- What feedback does the industry provide?
- Is there a difference in teaching those who have a greater programming experience in another language than those who have no programming experience?
Marko Čupić, PhD Since January 2003, he has been employed at the Department of Electronics, Microelectronics, Computer and Intelligent Systems of the Faculty of Electrical and Computing, University of Zagreb. He is involved in teaching at a number of undergraduate and graduate courses of FER (Digital Logic, Object-oriented Programming, Artificial Intelligence, Interactive Computer Graphics, Non-expressive, Evolutionary and Neurocomputing), holding several lectures (Basics of Java Programming, Basics of PHP Applications, RŠ Optimization Problems with Evolutionary Computing Algorithms in Java, Platform of Java and Open Source Technology in Business Environment). He is also the author of collections of tasks, several books and other teaching materials and systems (Ferko, VHDLLab/VHDLLab, Stud, SiCoTest, SiCoMa) and Software (FreeFormCaner, FreeFormScaner, FreeFormReading, FreeFormReader.
